Spotlighted Organizations

Here are several organizations that exemplify the values we at the EPJ Fund admire and support. They are laser-focused on their mission and those they serve, always willing to find creative ways to meet their goals. They also remain nimble, able to rethink strategy and pivot when circumstances change. This is especially important today as we are under increasingly challenging circumstances of shifting weather events and changes in governmental focus. Below are some of the organizations we learn a great deal from, and feel privileged to be in a position to support their fine work. 

Catholic Charities Refugee Integration Services

Catholic Charities Refugee Integration Services provides direct immigration legal services; access to free, up-to-date, multi-lingual and easy to understand information through various social media platforms; individual citizenship tutoring and; one-to-one mentoring to help immigrants navigate the myriad facets of their new home and tutoring to assist immigrants who are trying to become United States citizens.

The International Crane Foundation

The International Crane Foundation (ICF) is a non-governmental, non-profit conservation organization that works worldwide to save the fifteen species of cranes and their habitat by providing experience, knowledge and inspiration to people.  Cultivating harmony between humanity and nature is the quest of 50 men and women working directly for ICF, which is headquartered on a 225-acre site in Baraboo, Wisconsin, and is directly involved in over 40 projects in 22 countries.

NewThreads of Hope

NewThreads of Hope is a Milwaukee based not for profit corporation which provides support and a renewed sense of hope to individuals through the innovative use of gifts-in-kind, principally apparel, footwear, bed and bath, and household items, aimed at breaking the cycle of dependency.  Valuable surplus and returned merchandise collected from the business sector is redistributed to non-profit agencies that care for the needy, the ill, the elderly and children.

Notre Dame School of Milwaukee

Notre Dame School of Milwaukee is a Catholic school for girls founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame as an extension of their commitment to educate the poor and foster leadership skills in girls.  In a biliterate, bilingual setting, students from the heavily Hispanic near south side of Milwaukee become fluent in both English and Spanish.

Red Cloud Indian School

Red Cloud Indian School is a Catholic Institution dedicated to educating 600 Lakota students in its schools, ministering to thousands across the Pine Ridge Reservation through its parishes and sustaining Lakota cultural identity through the work of the Heritage Center.  Their mission is to be a thriving and renowned community of learners grounded in Lakȟóta and Catholic beliefs, values and practices.

Seton Catholic Schools

Seton Catholic Schools’ mission is to provide a transformational educational network committed to overcoming academic and social challenges, empowering students, families, and educators to attain their God-given potential. Their vision is to strengthen their communities through the effective engagement of the students, schools, and parishes in urban life and ministry.  Their schools serve the youth of Milwaukee — some of whom have the most difficult paths to lifelong success.

Dominican High School

To provide young adults with a co-educational, Catholic, college-preparatory experience based on the teachings of Jesus. Dominican High School commissions their students to develop a heightened sense of social responsibility and respect for human dignity.

Messmer Catholic Schools

Poverty and violence in Milwaukee’s underserved communities are obstacles to students’ success. At Messmer Catholic Schools, they are committed to creating an environment that celebrates faith, respect, learning, personal growth and fulfillment.

St. Joan Antida High School

Through the powerful influence of a Catholic-based education for young women, St. Joan Antida High School embraces the individuality of each student, engages her intellect, and empowers her to positively impact the community with confidence. Students come from 23 different zip codes throughout the city, reflecting St. Joan’s vibrant diversity of the Milwaukee community.
